Bed Stuy's Project Re-Generation Youth

The Foot Soldiers Program in Brooklyn is second to none. The Program was initiated by Project Regeneration (PR-G), which is a Not for Profit Organization located in Brooklyn New York, with a focus on empowering young people who are sometimes marginalized.

Project Re-Generation has a series of programs geared towards fostering youth development, one such program is the Foot Soldiers Program, where young people are “employed” to conduct community service. These young people engage residents in their community by maintaining property (cleaning, basic landscaping) and performing various chores for geriatrics or those who need it – all at a very minimal cost.

The funds raised through the PR-G Management of the Program, is used to off-set various expenses obtained by these young people. As much as it may be a hard pill to swallow, some of these young people have the task of “fending for themselves” and/or assisting their families, as such, the Foot Soldiers Program is significant social safety net for many of the participants.

The good and promising thing is that these young people enjoy what they do and hope to spread the message of goodwill through their work ethics, love for people and love for community.

Like many programs in the US and globally, funding is always an issue, as such, Project Re-Generation (PR-G) is depending on your support to keep this program alive, so that more young people may be employed and more people may be positively impacted.

PR-G is part of a competition with Toyota called “100 Cars4Good”, their chances are one in five to win a new vehicle for the “Foot Soldiers Program“. If you have a facebook account you can cast your one vote to help them increase their chances of winning at the “Toyota 100 Cars for Good” page.
