Thanks for joining us on our journey as a blog! The journey continues, but we’re pleased to announce that we have added value to our brand by launching our own magazine.

On Friday November 11, 2011 (11.11.11.) eliteBUZZ Magazine was launched in New York City to a mixed cultural crowd of entertainment industry personnel, media and celebrities; who all came out to the FLUX Factory (NY) to lend their support to a Magazine that is poised to play an integral role in the way Lifestyle/Entertainment Magazines are viewed.

The event started on time as scheduled and sailed smoothly till 11:11pm when the name of the Magazine (eliteBUZZ) was to be released.

At 11:11pm, however, technical difficulties hindered the big screen viewing, but that didn’t stop patrons from uploading it on their iphones, ipads and BBs. Smart phones immediately became abuzz with everything elite, as eliteBUZZ mania was officially born.

Lawman Lynch took the time to explain the various categories and subcategories the Magazine will feature in its initial stages and hailed the work of the team that worked behind the scenes to make the magazine and the event possible. He stressed the point that the magazine was initiated, developed and is being managed by a team of competent young people with the desire to make their mark in the global entertainment marketplace; as such it is critical for industry “gatekeepers”, whilst it’s a fact they are critical to the process, offer the necessary support for continuity and cutting edge ideas.

Judith Kitson, who serves as a Director of this initiative, articulated the need for continued partnership within various target markets so that the magazine experiences the success it seeks; “The magazine is a work in progress, but we felt it was necessary to sensitize the press and industry personnel at this point, as 2012 will be a very fast and exciting year for some of our programs”, she said; which was also supported by Tashina Williams who serves on the organizing committee.

The magazine is currently available online and will be printed periodically in the future. In 2012, eliteBUZZ Magazine will also be rolling out its interactive page, which will not only feature online chat among “eliteBUZZERS”, but also online radio and TV coverage.

Dr. Conrad Murray - MJ's Doctor

eliteBUZZ – LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7:

June 25^th 2009 ended an era in pop music when Michael Jackson died. Today his doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Dr. Murray will be sentenced on November 29^th, 2011; and as the verdict came in from the jury, Dr. Murray sat seemingly bewildered. He was handcuffed and escorted from the courthouse without bail being granted.

EliteBUZZ got various reactions from the public; one Michael Jackson fan articulated that “it (the sentence) will not be enough to fill the void”.

Dr. Murray, who is a Houston Cardiologist, is said to have administered a lethal dose of anesthesia to the pop star.

Omar Newell, JD

Omar Anthony Newell is setting a “bar” for many young men of Caribbean decent.

Born in St. Mary, a parish in Jamaica West Indies, Omar Newell had his eyes fixed on success since being a toddler. He spent a significant number of his younger years in St. Mary, before migrating to Portland and then Jamaica’s capital city – Kingston.

It was while in High School, (grades 7 & 8 at St. Mary High and remaining years at Titchfield High), that Mr. Newell honed his debating skills and began the process of “passing the bar”. In a recent interview, Mr. Newell articulated that is was a great challenge growing up in St. Mary, at one point, he was sharing a single bed with four other individuals in a one bedroom apartment, simply because of the economical challenges his family faced; experiences such as that, made him the tower of strength he is today and impressed on him the need to be successful in his academic endeavors.

He smiled as he explained how he was hired to put stamps on envelopes, but after two days, his supervisor sought permission to have him trained as a relief teller. Within a few months, he was trained as a loan clerk, charged with handing over keys and documents to beneficiaries of a certain scheme. Later on, Omar was selected as a member of a project team tasked with upgrading the organization’s (NHT) banking system.  The people Omar worked with didn’t stifle his development, as they saw in him, an individual who is destined to be a positive influence on youth, who will make sterling contributions to Jamaica and its Diaspora.

While at NHT, Omar started a radio program at Roots 96.1FM (Positive Vibes) and a philanthropic project (“We Care; Adopt a Child”) – the Program at ROOTS got great reviews from his listeners and the “We Care” project continues to finance a high school kids in select Jamaican inner-cities (pays tuition, buys uniforms, provides lunch, traveling expense and mentor-ship).

Today, Mr. Omar Newell stands tall as the epitome of an academically successful young Caribbean national; having completed law school, being conferred with a Juris Doctor (JD) and being successful in the New York Bar Exams.

Many people are shuffling to figure out what will happen on 11.11.11 in New York; which, by the way, our sources say will be broadcasted LIVE via the web and select media houses. We are not sure what is set to happen in New York on 11.11.11; what we were told, however, is that it will impact the entertainment industry significantly.

Entertainment has been a critical component within the economic sector for decades, and any shift within the sector is of great interest to those on Wall Street.

Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are industry personnel who have been reported by Forbes Magazine to be taking home well over quarter billion US Dollars per annum, while entertainers such as Sean Combs is said to worth $158 million and Jay-Z $251 million according to the Forbes list. Who will loose, who will gain?

eliteBUZZ has been informed that there will be an entertainment powerhouse merger, a new entertainment fraternity, the acquisition of Michael Jackson’s stake in Sony, which may not go down well with the Jackson family or a major split on the East Coast that may cost the industry millions.

There is also much talk among industry players that individuals such as Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Chris Brown are major factors in what will be announced on 11.11.11.

The only thing that is for certain, is that the grand announcement will take place in New York on 11.11.11.

Reliable sources have informed us that the celebrity media launch party will kick off at 7:00pm, featuring a guest list that will contain no more than 300 persons and a press box that will accommodate only 15 media houses. The event will not be a paid event, however, getting on the guest list will be a challenge for many. Select artist collectives and industry personnel are already aware and spaces are being secured. eliteBUZZ has secured a spot and will definitely be sharing information as soon as it becomes available.

Ever since the public break up of Rihanna and Chris Brown, the lyrics and videos of songs they do are always said to be about each
other.  Consequently, many still argue over whether they should get back with each other or stay apart.

On Wednesday, October 18, Rihanna’s latest video, “We Found Love” was released. It featured British boxer/model Dudley O’Shaughnessy – a Chris Brown lookalike – as Rihanna’s love interest. This video shows a poignant story of love, abuse of drugs, and oddly a verbal altercation inside a car, much like the one that ended the union of the popular couple.

In a recent interview with Esquire Magazine, where she was named Sexiest Woman Alive for 2011, Rihanna expressed her contentment for Chris Brown’s success. She had this to say, “It’s incredible to see how he pulled out of it the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know?” I
really like the music he’s putting out. I’m a fan of his stuff. I’ve always been a fan. Obviously, I had some resentment toward him for a while, for obvious reasons. But I’ve put that behind me.”

As the public speculates about the nature of their relationship, one has to wonder, are they still in love with each other but cannot act upon it because of fear of backlash from their fans and those in the music industry?

eliteBUZZ will be keeping a close eye on these two, as sources close to the two sensations seem to believe that the possibility of a “lovers reunion” is not a “pie in the sky”.

The Bowery Poetry Club in New York was transformed in a “Red Hot Space” by the “Red Hot Diva” last night.

Before the Diva took to the stage, Metric Man had patrons rocking to his energetic set. Metric Man is definitely a talent not to be underestimated, as his interaction with the audience proved he possesses the qualities of a featured artiste.

Poetic flavour was added to an already possitively poised show when Dub Poet Anton took the microphone and displayed is talent which can easily be described as “hard to match”.

When the clock struck 11:45pm, pulsating authentic reggae music resonated within the venue while Outro entered from side stage clad in deep red. The music and their movements had the audience in their elements to the point where you got the feeling you had already received your money’s worth.

However, it was  when the Red Hot Diva herself, the incomparable Marcia Davis took to the stage that the fireworks began. Dressed in a Red Hot above-knee designer dress and Red Hot regal headwear, the Diva started her set with “I am Irie“.

The energy in the room could have been felt many feet away from the venue, as passers by walked in, having been pulled by the pulsating rhythm that could have been heard half a mile away coming from the Bowery Poetry Club.

Marcia led the band through a genre that she competently diversified. Dabbling in Reggae Pop, Lovers Rock, One Drop, Rock Steady, just to name a few.

eliteBUZZ is now convinced that Marcia Davis has the capability to please even the hardest of crowds, once the genre is Reggae.

Very few artistes can appeal to a diverse North American market, and Marcia Davis is undoubtedly one of those few. If Bob Marley was alive, he would definitely pursue a collaboration with Marcia Davis, as like Bob, her positve message, without much emphasis, connects with the masses.

“Red Hot Diva” has truly raised the bar for “Sunday Night Musical Experiences“. From “I am Reggae“, “Matrix“, “Live For Joy” to “Dance the night away“, “Country Living” and “Young Man“; just to name a few; Marcia Davis has proven once again that she is truly a Reggae Diva and has carved a space for herself as a living Female Reggae royalty. The ensemble, “Outro“, is a force to be watched keenly, as their harmony and stage presence certainly made the show a musical success.

“Too Much War” was her final selection as she left the crowd wanting more; and more they shall receive, as Marcia is slated to open for the Mighty Diamonds on October 25th in New York City.

Marcia Davis was born in the UK to Jamaican parents, but migrated to the United States in 1987. Since being in the Big Apple, she has carved a niche for herself as both an accomplished musician and industry stalwart, having worked with some of Reggae’s and Dancehall’s biggest names.

This Sunday October 16, 2011, when the lights hit the stage at 11:30pm for “Red Hot Diva”, you will see Marcia Davis in her elements. eliteBUZZ had a sneak peak of the rehearsals and you are in for a treat. “Red Hot Diva” will be supported by special guest artiste “Metric Man” and hosted by Dub Poet Anton.

The venue is set for the Bowery Poetry Club at 308 Bowery Street, New York, NY.

The Apple Visionary Steve Jobs is dead.

Apple has reported that Steve Jobs has died after his battle with pancreatic cancer. Steve Jobs, was the mastermind behind some of entertainment’s and technology’s most brilliant inventions: Apple’s iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes.

Steve co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 and, with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak, marketed what was considered the world’s first personal computer, the Apple II.

According to ABC News, Ned Potter and Colleen Curry, “The highlights of Jobs’s career trajectory are well-known: a prodigy who dropped out of Reed College in Oregon and, at 21, started Apple with Wozniak in his parents’ garage. He was a multimillionaire by 25, appeared on the cover of Time magazine at 26, and was ousted at Apple at age 30, in 1984.

Jobs and his wife, Laurene Powell, were married in a small ceremony in Yosemite National Park in 1991, lived in Woodside, Calif., and had three children: Reed Paul, Erin Sienna and Eve.

He admitted that when he was 23, he had a child out of wedlock with his high school girlfriend, Chris Ann Brennan. Their daughter, Lisa Brennan Jobs, was born in 1978.

Fortune magazine reported that Jobs denied paternity of Lisa for years, at one point swearing in a court document that he was infertile and could not have children. According to the report, Chris Ann Brennan collected welfare for a time to support the child until Jobs later acknowledged Lisa as his daughter”.

No doubt, his inventions have made the world a much better place to exist technologically.

Brooklyn College was abuzz on Sunday September 18th when the “Not in my hood” Concert invaded Flatbush.

The event was the perfect example of “art” promoting a message of peace, especially among youth in New York. Rarely do you find business people, Politicians, persons within the NGO Sector and ordinary young people meet at one location to celebrate talent, peace and spirit of unity. “Not in my hood” created the atmosphere for such a message to ring via the performing arts.

When K. Bain took the microphone as the master of ceremonies for the evening, no one knew they would have been treated to a plethora of music and dance that could rival any Madison Square Gardens production. Young people sat enthused as they awaited Epic records artiste Ginuwine, who was also booked for the show. The excitement in the auditorium could have been felt from the parking lot and a run down of the acts proved such.

The show featured a mixture of gospel and hip-hop  acts, and the merger seemed to have satisfied the audience.

From Dizciple doing his original “Sin is the reason” to the Fully Focused Dance Troupe dancing away to DJ Blazita’s music and Gospel Rap artiste Angel [who flew in from Florida for the event] all ignited the crowd.

There was much talk about Traces, an all female Gospel/Inspirational Group. The ladies wowed the audience with their acapella medley and served as the only act without musical accompaniment.

Sidetrack Boyz performed like the 21st Century Back Street Boys, they maintained their “cool” as the females in the audience bounced to their originals “hypnotic” and “poison”.

La Vray Gospel Group performed “Agus Dei” and “how great is our God” to an impressive reception from the audience, as they were introduced as the next great gospel act to emerge from New York.

Ginuwine was a “no show”, but members of the Ruff Ryders Crew were on hand to compensate.

No doubt the star of the night was Ed Robinson.

Ed Robinson is no ordinary entertainer, his stage presence and in-the-moment theatrics are second to none. Ed had Congresswoman Yvette Clarke singing to his international hit “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”, and she did very well, dressed regally in her Ivory suite.

It was Ed Robinson who put the show into perspective, “the people who should be hearing the message are not here, all the seats in this auditorium should be filled”, he said to the young people, while encouraging them to not accept any level of violence in their communities.

“Not in my hood” is a concept that should be replicated, stated Youth Ambassador Diandre Miller, as it gives young people a sense of hope, knowing that through music and entertainment, positive messages can reach the masses.
